It explains acetate metabolism, astrocytes, and ^13C magnetic resonance spectroscopy clearly, reports the small group sizes, and includes several important limitations. It also appropriately warns against interpreting alcohol as a beneficial energy source.

However, the central conclusion is too confident. Only seven treatment-seeking participants completed usable scans at both time points, and the reported 43% increase in acetate oxidation between one week and one month narrowly missed conventional statistical significance (p=0.053).
